Peach Cobbler From Quilt Country

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 -8 peaches, peeled and sliced (depending on size)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- nutmeg, grated
Recipe
- 1 preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 in a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, and salt; set aside.
- 3 in a large mixing bowl, cream the butter.
- 4 add 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar and blend well.
- 5 beat in the flour mixture.
- 6 grease a 9 x 9 metal pan (metal gives this a dessert a better texture).
- 7 place half of the peaches on the bottom.
- 8 sprinkle half the flour mixture over the fruit.
- 9 add the rest of the peaches.
- 10 sprinkle with the remainder of the flour mixture.
- 11 in a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and the brown sugar.
- 12 sprinkle the sugars over all.
- 13 add the almond extract to the boiling water.
- 14 pour over the cobbler but do not mix!
- 15 sprinkle with grated nutmeg.
- 16 bake for 1 hour.
- 17 serve warm.
