Ham And Cheese Quiche

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup crisco shortening
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 cup chopped ham
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded american cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 pie crust:.
  • 2 in mixing bowl, place flour.
  • 3 add salt. mix to combine.
  • 4 cut in shortening till crumbs are the size of croutons.
  • 5 add water.
  • 6 mix with fork till well blended (yes, that's all there is to it!).
  • 7 roll out on lightly floured dough board to about 1/16" to 1/8" thickness.
  • 8 wrap dough around your rolling pin and unroll it over your pie pan, making sure it covers the edges of the pan.
  • 9 press dough down into the crevices of the pie pan (it'll shrink when baking).
  • 10 trim edges, and flute, if you wish.
  • 11 place in 350 degree oven for 5-10 minutes, just till the pie shell is a bit dry.
  • 12 remove from oven, and using a plastic spatula, press out the bubbles.
  • 13 set pie crust aside.
  • 14 filling:.
  • 15 mix all filling ingredients together till well blended.
  • 16 pour into pie crust.
  • 17 place on center rack, in 350 degree oven.
  • 18 bake for 45 minutes, or till knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 19 remove from oven. let set 5 minutes.
  • 20 serve with green salad and a fruit cup.
