Double Cheese Crackers

Total Time: 52 mins Preparation Time: 40 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 -5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 in a large mixing bowl combine flour, red pepper, and salt.
  • 2 using a pastry blender, cut in cheddar cheese and butter until pieces are the size of small peas.
  • 3 sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the water over part of the mixture.
  • 4 gently toss with a fork and push to side of bowl.
  • 5 repeat until all of the flour mixture is moistened.
  • 6 shape dough into a ball.
  • 7 on a lightly floured surface flatten dough with your hands.
  • 8 roll out dough from center to edges forming a 10-inch square.
  • 9 brush with egg; sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • 10 cut dough into 5x1/2-inch strips. place the strips 1/2 inch apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • 11 bake in a 400 degree f oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
