Joyce Lamont's Ground Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients

- 6 ounces noodles (wide egg noodles are good)
- 4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
- 1/2 cup chopped green onion
- 1/4 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon brandy (optional)
Recipe
- 1 cook noodles according to package directions.
- 2 when they are tender, drain them and toss them with 2 tablespoons butter- put the noodles in a 2-quart casserole.
- 3 melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet.
- 4 add the onions and mushrooms and sauce for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
- 5 add ground beef and cook and stir until meat is browned.
- 6 add almonds, soup, sour cream, salt, pepper and brandy.
- 7 spoon meat mixture over the noodles in the casserole.
- 8 bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 375 degrees.
