Dad's Meatloaf

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/8 cup onion powder
  • salt and pepper
  • ketchup

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 combine all of the ingredients except for the ketchup. it is easiest to just mix it up with your hands.
  • 3 form into two loaves.
  • 4 spread ketchup over the top of each loaf, and wrap each in foil sealing the foil tightly without squishing the meatloaf. note: sealing the foil slows the cooking time, which is why it takes so long to cook, but it also keeps the meat from drying out.
  • 5 line a baking pan with foil, and place the foil wrapped loaves in it.
  • 6 bake for 1 hour 45 minutes.
  • 7 poke holes in the foil that is wrapped around the meatloaf and let any grease drain out into the pan while baking another 15 minutes.
