Stroop Koekjes - Syrup Cookies

Total Time: 27 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups molasses
  • 5 cups flour (amount is approximate)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 2 cream shortening and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • 3 add molasses.
  • 4 sift two cups of the flour with the remaining dry ingredients very well.
  • 5 add to the first mixture.
  • 6 add enough more flour to allow handling.
  • 7 roll out and cut with a floured cookie cutter and place on a cookie sheet.
  • 8 bake for ten to twelve minutes.
  • 9 place on a cooling rack.
