Grandma's Dixie Panfried Fish

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 lbs firm fleshed fish filets (i recommend catfish)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup crisco or 1 cup other shortening

Recipe

  • 1 combine cornmeal, salt, and pepper in a bowl, then pour onto a plate.
  • 2 rinse fish well and pat dry with paper towels.
  • 3 dip fish in milk, then coat with cornmeal mix.
  • 4 heat crisco over medium high heat in a large skillet.
  • 5 add fish to pan.
  • 6 fry until golden brown and flesh .
