Chili 'n Bread

Ingredients

- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 (14 ounce) can red kidney beans
- 1 (14 ounce) can black beans
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 4 bread boules (purchased)
- hot sauce or tabasco sauce
- salt & pepper
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
Recipe
- 1 pour olive oil in large saucepan, brown ground beef over med heat.
- 2 add onion and garlic, cook until onion is soft (~5min).
- 3 add marinara sauce and water.
- 4 bring to a boil then turn down to simmer and add beans. add salt, pepper, cumin and chili powder and simmer until mixture thickens.
- 5 or.
- 6 bring to a boil then transfer mixture to a crock pot. add beans, salt, pepper, cumin and chili powder and cook on high for 4 hours.
- 7 add hot sauce if desired.
- 8 serve in a bread bowl.
- 9 top with grated cheddar cheese.
